Toilet Seats
From Roman times when toilets were communal with rows of stone seats over a flowing trough right up to the present, people have always tried to make toilet seats more comfortable.
After the Romans people forgot Roman toilets and leafy glades were common (watching out for nettles)
Then the Nobility had a crude form of toilets with wooden seats (and splinters)
The Victorians upgraded toilets to lovelu decorated devices with floral and willow pattern designs -
Sometimes these were even two or three seaters for a family get together I presume !
In World War One Toilets featuring the Kaiser were made and a lot of fun was had with those.
Similarly in WW II with a certain Mr Hitler.
The American made nice cosy toilet seats of plastic and then the Japanese invented heated toilet seats with self cleaning fountains !
So to today where we have nylon and perspex and resin seats with flags, patterns, cartoon characters and even embedded snakes, fish, crabs and fish hooks embedded inside the plastic.
It is definitely more fun nowadays ...
Have fun looking though this section - We Did !
Regrettably very few of these are from Ikea (people must hang onto their Ikeas toilet seats) and we are right out of Roman Multi-seaters...
